Vimianzo Castle was built in the thirteenth century.
In the year 1467 was demolished during the wars Irmandiņos and subsequently rebuilt by Archbishop Fonseca, going back to the dominance of Compostela. The Count of Altamira, Lope Sanchez de Moscoso, recovered in 1472. Since then the house was owned by Altamira, until in the nineteenth century the family sold him Martelo. Finally, after returning the property of the bishopric of Compostela, was acquired by the Provincial Government of La Coruņa.
