Archive Home : English Castles : Clifford's Tower - York : Photo 1190 massacre memorial tablet This tablet at the base of Clifford's Tower commemorates York's Jewish population which was slaughtered on the site of the castle in 1190 after taking refuge in the then wooden tower.
