Archive Home : Irish Castles : Carlingford Castle : Photo Carlingford from the Carlingford was the seat of Hugh de Lacy, son of the great lord of Meath of the same name.It was granted to the younger Hugh in the 1190s and it is recorded that there was a castle existing here in 1211, although it may not be the castle we see today.
