Ancroft church was restored in the 19th Century My GGGrandfather came to this area with his sons from London to restore a church about 1910? it's said to be Ancroft. West Hartlepool/Christchurch? was also mentioned. It would be a long way to come from London to restore a church. Would there be any Church record/historical records of this? His brother was a vicar perhaps their is a link their. His name was Edward wardell/wardle and he was a master plasterer and an expert with stucco. I think he had strong links with Durham.

I would think so Alan. If it is around 1910, you would have a good chance of finding documentation from that period. Though it may depend on the amount of work carried out? If there was no real structual alterations, perhaps not. Though the church's own records may have noted them. Peter
