I know there are stipulations to being eligible to use a coat of arms.
Does anyone know what they are and how I can find out if I meet them or not?
My last name is Drake if that helps

A coat of arms belongs to just one person (or body), although sons can have a mark of cadency added to the arms. When the father dies the eldest son looses his cadency label and takes over his fathers arms. Scotland has a slightly different system than England, but it still insist that one coat of arms can only be officially borne by one person. If you want to know which arms you are eligible for, they is no other way to do it than by doing some research on your family history and so forth.
I can find twenty arms for "Drake" listed in the General Armoury. So it's quite possible that you'll be eligible for none of them, so you may need to get a Herald to grant you some arms (A herald will do the research for you if necessary).
