Author Topic:   Troop Manor - Scotland/England - Borders? calmoore Member posted 05-26-2004 08:35 AM             I was told that the name Troop (Troupe) is part of clan Gordon. In this regard perhaps a better look around Gordon Castle may locate Troop Manor. My family lore states that about 1750 - 1780 John Angus (Angeous) was the gardener here. His son eloped with Sarah Troop. This engagement took place at Gretna Green and was not favourably looked upon by Lord and Lady Troop. So this couple journeyed to Ireland. This is where my family line of Moore from County Down comes in. I am one of many researchers here in Canada and the US who are trying to piece these early times together.
