The Third Earl became the First Duke of Queensbury, and one of their main residences was Drumlanrig Castle in Dumfries and Galloway.

thx for the replies
the date of separation was in 1810 with the dead of the 5th duke of Queensberry.
After this date Drumlanrig Castle has stayed with the dukes of Buccleuch and Queensberry (till this day), and what went to the marquesses of Queensberry: i have no clue at all. So if some one knows, please let me know

the main House of the marquesses of Queensburry was Kinmount House it was built between 1812-1818 for the 5 th Marquess of Queensberry. He was married to Caroline , daughter of the 3rd Duke of Buccleuch and 5th Duke of Queensberry. At the end of the 19th century the John Sholto Douglas 9th Marquess of Q. sold the House. It seems that his son Percy Douglas 10th Marquess of Queensberry had to sell all scotish property which was left.
