i'm thinking 'quiver' but isn't that Native Americans? Help please, my brains asleep!

Hi Deborah, yes quiver is the correct name for the container for arrows. When fighting on horseback, the arrows would be fed to the bow from the quiver one at a time but during a siege or an on foot battle the arrows would be taken from the quiver and stuck in the ground to facilitate a faster shooting rate.
