Author Topic:   July trip to Scotland sailorman Member posted 03-07-2005 12:52 PM          We have plenty of frequent flyer miles now and have always wanted to visit Scotland and the wife and I are thinking about July. Our goal would be to visit as many castles as feasible within budget constraints and about a week in Scotland. The castle tours we have looked at seem pricey. We are just getting started so looking for some suggestions as to ways to get around, hostels still a good choice to stay cheaply?, places we definetly don't want to miss, any issues in July? thanks in advance. sailorman Member posted 06-15-2005 12:10 AM          Update - we leave June 19th headed to Edinburgh. Plan to see Stirling and Dunbar Castles. Any other sites we wnat to be sure to see? AJR Senior Member posted 06-15-2005 04:44 AM          I could think of hundreds - so where to start. St Andrew's Castle in Fife would be good, as well as Craigmillar, Blackness and Crichton (all reasonably close to Edinburgh). There are literally dozens of castles all within a few miles of Edinburgh. Happy Holidays.
