Does anyone know if the keep/tower at Cooling is restorable, or has it fallen beyond reasonable efforts? I have not yet been to cooling, but I understand the gate towers are pretty intact (and quite beautiful). Anyone? Bueller?Regards, Bluewater |

It's a few years since I visited Cooling but I would consider it unlikely that it could be made into a habitable residence. The gatehouse is moderately intact but not large and two small rooms do not, in these days, make a home. ------------------ Neurotics build castles in the air, psychotics live in them, Psychiatrists charge the rent, art therapists do the interior design and nurses clean out the garderobes! http://www.castlesontheweb.com/members/philipdavis/index.html

That's what it seemed to look like with the available photos. I hope someone purchases the land that will take care of it though. I don't know if English Heritage/National Trust would pay the $50K pounds or best offer for the property though. Here's hoping...\Regards, Bluewater | |
