I am looking for some information on the history of Cheronceaux castle in the Loire Valley, France. I need to know who owned it and what form it took around 1095 A.D. Was it still a Roman Villa or had it started to become a regular manor house? I traced the building back to 1243 when the Marque family added a water driven mill, but I have not been able to get information from further back. |

I found some material on Chenonceau (on the River Cher), though nothing from as early a period required by Marilene. ------------------ 'Give me the groves that lofty brave, The storms, by Castle Gordon'. Visit my web-site at www.castlesontheweb.com/members/wurdsmiff/castles.htm Gordon.
