Hey, WE were just wondering if there are any floor plans or blueprints of Bodiam Castle on the net. We are considering building a replica of this castle and we would like some floor plans and info like that, anyone know of any place to get blueprints. Any info on cost would be appreciated too. thanks Lori and Mike |

You will find a plan and some sections of Bodiam on my website at http://www.castlesontheweb.com/members/philipdavis/Plans/album/pages/bodium_gif.htm (This is a large file intended for downloading and printing, not for onscreen viewing). I'm afraid if your need more detailed plans than these you will have to contact the National Trust directly and expect to pay for them.------------------ And as I rode by Dalton-Hall Beneath the turrets high, A maiden on the castle-wall Was singing merrily: The Outlaw by Sir Walter Scott http://www.castlesontheweb.com/members/philipdavis/index.html [This message has been edited by Philip Davis (edited 09-02-2000).] |

I don't know if I can be of much help here, but I think we should start a Bodiam fan club here. It is one the the best castles in the world in my humble view, having all the hallmarks of the perfect Castle. It was built at the end of castle building in Britain, and has all the latest advancements for it's time. A plus is it's well preserved, and the ideal size and layout for a replica. I was there in winter, and had many long hours alone in Bodiam. It was and remains my personal favorite, being everything a castle should be, including never breached. You might want to look into the Frazier Colection of miniatures, they have an excellent model of Bodiam complete with moat which give a great visualization of the size and layout in tiny but accurate 3-d. Good luck with your project as I too am looking at re-creating Bodiam, but as the centre piece for a medieval theme park. Sir Kay Knight Bachelor, The order of the Round Table |

I thought Bodiam was never finished. I thought Caerphilly was the one (of the near-twin castles) that was never breached. Or is it the other way 'round?MK | |
