Trying to find any information about a castle called "Kasteel de Haven". It is located in Holland somewhere. According to some family papers, which are very vague, there are references to family members and this castle. My ancestors emigrated from Europe some time ago, but I am not sure when. |

Being a dutchman myself, this should be one for me to answer, but I never heard of any castle in Holland with that name. I've searched all my books for your castle but never found a mention. Not even one that came close. Are you sure about the spelling or the location? Kasteel just means castle in dutch and dutch is also spoken in -roughly- the northern part of Belgium; so maybe it could be a Belgian castle.------------------ "A man's house is his castle" Visit my website at http://www.castles.nl/ [This message has been edited by Marko (edited 10-30-2001).] |

I wish I knew exactly where it was. I know that is not very large and the town was not large either. I have seen both a photo and a postcard that are around 40+ years old. I will have to call my brother and ask if he still has one and have him email me a scan of the front and back. I have been intermintantly searching the web for information but without results. Thank you for your help. |

I'm a Flying dutchman too, and I have also searched all of my books, no kasteel de Haven. I suppose it is either in Belgium or it is not really a castle, the dutch guys build a lot of stonehouses to impress others, which they called a castle, but it might even be smaller then a simple farmhouse made of stone, which means no one has probably ever heard of it. |
