HelloDoes any know where i can find information on the now disappeared castle of Bouxwiller (Buchsweiler) in the northern Alsace, France. It was the residence of the counts of Hanau-Lichtenberg. Bouxwiller was the capital of this small state. I guess the castle was destroyed during the French revolution. Thx in advance Ipflo |

Hi ipflo,Here's info from a book of mine: "Jean de Lichtenberg, who died in 1315, was buried in the chapel, but the castle itself wasn't mentioned until 1355. Plundered at the time of the war of the Peasants (1525), it was subject of many transformations up to the 18th century. Acquired by the municipality in 1804, it was demolished little afterwards. The current college occupies its site." I even have an old pic of the chapel from around 1900. Just let me know if you need it. ------------------ "But round about the castle there began to grow a hedge of thorns, which every year became higher...." Visit my website at http://www.castles.nl/
