There are 4 castle sites at the north end of Lake Bala; Tomen-y-Bala still dominates the town of Bala itself and is the most well known, but Llanfor (a ringwork), Hen Hafod (a motte) and Castell Gronw (motte & bailey) are often overlooked and virtually anonymous. Does anyone have any details of the origins and history of these castles? Thanks, John. |

Hello John, take a look at http://www.castlewales.com/bala.html and http://homepage.mac.com/philipdavis/Welshsites/507.html The information is sketchy to say the least but I hope it can be of use to you. Regards, Paul. | |
