I'm a graduate student working on a medieval fantasy novel, and I have found that this seems to be a great place to get my medieval history/castle questions answered. So here's one for you:In regards to 13th C. England, would a well-to-do assart-owner/husbandman have ever seen glass? Would the parish church in a backwater hamlet have glass windows at that time, or even some kind of glass ampules such as would contain holy oil or water? I know cathedrals and castles would have a fair amount of both window glass and other forms (jewelry, small bottles or vials). However, I'm not as certain about smaller, out-of-the-way locales.
Thank you for your assistance!
